QUATRE is searching Brazilian Engineers with experience and academic background in  Control  and Automation, to work and live in USA.

Our client is an US company  with  25 years of experience in a wide variety of manufacturing environments, including Robotic, Engineering and Robotic Automation capability, which extends across industry boundaries and knowingly applies solutions throughout all facets of an organization, from supporting robotics hands-on in manufacturing, to writing automation standards, to developing  specific automation strategy that fulfills long-term corporate manufacturing philosophy.

 

Job Description – Controls Engineer I, II, III

A Controls Engineer  is responsible for assisting with engineering hardware and software design, as well as provide field support for controls projects. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  Performs a variety of tasks.  Works under general supervision.

 This position will involve significant interaction with customers and other engineers.  This position reports directly to the Engineering Group Leader, Controls & Electrical.

 

Tasks

Their duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide hardware design as required for controls systems including:
    • Power Distribution
    • Magnetics
    • I/O requirements
    • Communication requirements
    • Field wiring
    • Fluid requirements (hydraulic, pneumatic, lube & water)
  • Provide software design as required for controls systems including:
    • PLC logic development or PC based control programming
    • HMI development
    • Management Information System requirements
  • Perform pre-approval checks on hardware and software designs before submittal
  • Provide project related progress to Department Leader on status and needs
  • Complete designs on-time that satisfy all project requirements as outlined by the Scope of Work and Group Leader
  • Perform all field checks and verifications as required
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Provide start-up/debug assistance during build and tryout
    • Establish communication
    • Field check I/O
    • Commission software
  • Work with team to develop standard methods and designs for better efficiency and operation
  • Perform Project Leader functions as required
    • Review and evaluate scope of work and project objectives for jobs as assigned by Leader
    • Assist with Manpower scheduling with Leader
  • Provide leadership regarding design related tasks to project team as required
  • Perform job assignments in other groups as required

 

Skills / Experience

  • 2-year degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in the following:
    • Hardware design (multiple applications)
    • software design with utilization of PLC and HMI programming software
    • build support
    • start-up and debug of automation systems and technologies utilized in the automotive industry
  • Experience using AutoCAD for controls hardware design
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers

Essential Job Functions

  • Available to work weekends or extended hours as on short notice and on any shift as required for project
  • Ability to travel for extensive periods of time to meet customer expectations and project requirements
  • Ability to work outside of theUnited States of America
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.  May be required to sit, stand, walk and/or look at a computer monitor for long periods of time.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Controls Engineer I, II, III

Controls Engineers must meet the requirements above and are classified as I, II, or III based on the table below.

 

Controls Engineer I

  • Minimum classification of Novice in either “Software Design”, “Hardware Design” or “Tryout & Debug”
  • Minimum classification of Novice in “Customer Relations”
  • Minimum classification of Novice in “Team Interaction”

Controls Engineer II

  • Minimal classification of Competent in either “Software Design”, “Hardware Design” or “Tryout & Debug” (must be same category as previously evaluated as Novice
  • Minimal classification of Novice in one of the remaining categories (“Software Design”, “Hardware Design”, or “Tryout & Debug”
  • Minimal classification of Competent in “Customer Relations”
  • Minimal classification of Competent in “Team Interaction”

Controls Engineer III

  • Minimal classification of Master in either “Software Design”, “Hardware Design” or “Tryout & Debug” (must be same category as previously evaluated as Competent
  • Minimal classification of Novice in both remaining categories (“Software Design”, “Hardware Design”, or “Tryout & Debug”
  • Classification of Master in “Customer Relations”
  • Classification of Master in “Team Interaction”

 

Competency Novice Competent Master
Controls Hardware design

(CAD design, electrical design, fluids design, panel layouts)

Basic understanding of automated control systems.

 

Introduction to software packages.  Learning use of appropriate software.

 

Demonstrates computer literacy.

Perform all phases of hardware design under general supervision. Perform all phases of hardware design independently.  Develop hardware package from scratch according to customer specifications and project content.
Controls Software design

(Ladder Logic development, HMI, Safety PLC)

Basic understanding of automated control systems.

 

Introduction to software packages.  Learning use of appropriate software.

 

Demonstrates computer literacy.

Familiar with certain software packages (at least 1-2 years of experience).

 

Writes code independently under general supervision.

Write code independently under little to no supervision (at least 2 years of experience).

 

Able to technically lead projects

Tryout & Debug Has at least 6 months experience in both hardware and software design. Perform all phases of tryout & debug under general supervision.

 

Moderate track record of customer satisfaction.

Perform all phases of tryout & debug independently under little to no supervision.

 

Proven track record of customer satisfaction.

Customer Relations Little or no interaction with customers. Few customer relationships developed or history of dissatisfaction on the part of the customer. Good working relationships with all customers. Letters of recommendation received. Very strong relationships with customers. Customers ask for this person to be on their projects. Strong presentation skills. Also – ability to negotiate changes.
Team Interaction Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Actively contribute to a team as related to the project. Able to act as technical lead to a group of engineers for specified projects.
